Position OverviewLedgent Finance & Accounting's client is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Controller to join their team in Florida. This role involves overseeing financial operations, managing accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Controller will be pivotal in guiding the financial strategy and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reports. This position is a supervisor role and offers a competitive salary with a range of benefits. Responsibilities- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, complying with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage all accounting functions, including overseeing month-end and year-end closings and financial reporting.
- Assist in preparing and managing company and department budgets, financial forecasts, and analysis to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
- Ensure proper management of all company expenses.
- Oversee management of the company's cash flow, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliation.
- Oversee grant accounting and reporting.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of all financial reporting and compliance with regulations, accounting standards, and company policies.
- Craft, distribute, and enforce finance and accounting policies.
- Liaise with external auditors to support internal/external audits and ensure the company is prepared for audits with documentation, policy, and policy adherence.
- Lead and guide a team of accounting professionals, including hiring, training, coaching, and development, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations and reporting.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years accounting experience with 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and nonprofit accounting principles required.
- Experience with and strong understanding of risk management and insurance.
- Must exhibit a high level of discretion, judgment, and personal integrity.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of accuracy and product integrity.
- Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Ability to mentor, coach, and support individual staff growth.
- Ability to communicate and interact with a diverse group of people.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Nonprofit experience a plus.
